Winter Cocktails

We had great fun in our Holiday Cocktail Classes this season and here are the recipes that were the class favourites.

The Holiday Season is a fantastic reason to dust off your martini shaker and bar tools and enjoy some delicious cocktails. Below we have some of  the class favourites from our Holiday Cocktail classes. All of these cocktails are easy to make and are certain to bring that "wow' factor to any winter get together.

Snowball

A Holiday classic, this easy to make drink is a delicious winter sipper.

1.5oz Advocaat
3oz Chilled Sparkling Lemonade.
Pour lemonade over Advocaat in cocktail glass. Serve with sprinkle of nutmeg, candied cherry, or toasted coconut. (drink can be served over ice)

(Advocaat is a creamy yellow liqueur that is made from egg yolks, sugar, brandy and vanilla and has a soft custard flavour. It can be also used poured over ice cream, pound cake, cheese cake or even waffles.)

Ice Wine Martini

1.5 oz Ice Wine (white or red)

1.5 oz vodka

Frozen grapes  (raspberries if using red ice wine)

Pour ingredients into shaker with ice  and shake well together. Strain and pour into martini glass and garnish with frozen grapes or raspberries. 

Nutcracker Martini

A delicious cocktail that is a treat in a glass. Perfect to end a meal or sip by a fire.

1.5 oz vodka

1 oz Amaretto

.5 oz white creme de cacao

Crushed Butterfinger rim

Maraschino cherry

Take cherry and squeeze around edge of glass to create a sticky base for Butterfinger rim. Dunk glass in finely crushed Butterfinger bits. Place cherry in bottom of glass. Shake all ingredients together in cocktail shaker over ice and then strain and pour into glass. 

 

Rudolph Cocktail

A simple festive looking cocktail.

4 oz Prosecco

.5 oz Chambord or grenadine

Pomegranate seeds

Lemon or simple sugar for liquid for rim of glass.

Green sugar for rim

Wet rim of champagne flute by lightly dunking it in simple sugar liquid or using lemon to wet rim. Once wet dunk in green sugar. (can be easily made by adding a few drops of food colouring to sugar till desired colour is achieved.)

Place a spoonful of pomegranate seeds in each glass and pour small a amount of grenadine over them or Chambord. If you desire a clear look to your cocktail then use grenadine. The Chambord will turn your cocktail a pale rose colour. Pour chilled Prosecco into glass and enjoy.

 

Candy Cane Martini

1.5 oz vodka

.5 oz peppermint schnapps

(to taste) Crushed candy cane for rim.

 

Wet rim of glass with lemon wedge or by dunking in simple syrup and then dip in crushed candy cane bits. Pour all ingredients in shaker over ice. Shake well, strain and pour into glass. Garnish with candy cane.
